North Santiam River

Trip Itinerary

Meeting Time at Fishermans' Bend Park is 10:00am!

8:45 am leave Portland area for Salem on I-5 (South)

10:00 am arrive at Fishermans' Bend Park: meet our vans located in the parking lot of the park (sign in, distribute wetsuits and padding gear)

10:20 am depart for launch site

10:45 am begin your rafting trip down the North Santiam River

2:30 pm lunch!

3:00 pm arrive at North Santiam Park (take-out) (where your vehicles with dry clothes are conveniently located)

Leave for Portland at your leisure!

3/4-Day Trip List

For the River:

ü Shorts (quick drying shorts are best, ie nylon) and a T-shirt or bathing suit.

ü Long Sleeve shirts and a hat if you get burned easily.

ü Long underwear (couple of layers, both top and bottom), a fleece top, these items are essential to insure maximum warmth.

ü Wool Socks 

ü Gloves (wool or neoprene), stocking hat if you get cold easily.  

ü Old Tennis shoes, neoprene booties or Sandals (Teva type are best)

ü Sunglass Strap for both sunglasses and prescription glasses (Croakies or Chums).

ü Sunglasses 

ü Waterproof Sunscreen (with a SPF of 20 or higher).

ü Change of clothes for drive home.

ü An Attitude To Have A Great Time!

River Drifters will provide a wetsuit, paddle jacket and a helmet (if needed). If anyone in your group gets cold easily then bring them a capiline, poly pro, fleece or long underwear type of shirt for their upper body. Even though this trip is in the late Summer or Fall and the air temperatures could be in the 60’s or even 70’s, the water in the river is in the low 50’s. Nobody has fun when they are cold so we just take the extra caution to make sure that everyone is warm!
